The error occurs when you try to update one of your attached data sources. Hopefully you'll never see it (unfortunately I did), but if you do come across it, here's how to fix it. Fortunately to solution is pretty simple.

The process of changing this for Visual Studio 2012 is slightly different from the one followed to change this for Visual Studio 2010.

Would you prefer to have Windows 8 bypass the Start Screen and boot straight to the desktop? If so, you can do so using a technique that takes advantage of a feature that is built right into the operating system - no third-party tools required. All you have to do is create a specially configured task that is scheduled to run at log on.

Using this technique, you can just click a Start button to bring up the Apps screen and then click the icon of the application you want to launch. No keyboard, no shortcut keystrokes, just mouse clicks.

If like me, you've wanted to set something like Google Australia as your IE9/IE10 default search, you'll have no doubt gone around on the IE merry-go-round, looking for a way to select it.

I've had this happen twice now. The first time it took ages to find the answer. I was lucky this time, I found it quicker, but I'm adding a blog entry about it, so I KNOW where the answer is if it happens again.

LightSwitch uses SQL 2008, but I currently have to deploy to a SQL 2005 server.

Unfortunately my little trick to tame Windows Explorer no longer seems to work in Windows 8. But I did find another, if not more complicated way to achieve the same thing.

If you're one of the MANY developers that HATE the use of ALL CAPS in the next version of Visual Studio, then Richard Banks (a fellow Aussie) has written about a solution in his blog.

In a recent post in the LightSwitch Forum, Justin Anderson (a member of the LightSwitch Team) briefly but succintly explained the difference between the IScreenObject and IActiveScreen interfaces.

Not only did he explain the difference between the two, he also used a neat little LINQ trick, involving the Select method, that I don't think I've seen before. Or at least if I have, I don't remember seeing it.
